Barcelona vs Real Sociedad: Team News & Preview
Barcelona could be boosted by the returns of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde this weekend, with both players expected to feature off the bench as they build fitness ahead of next week’s clash with PSG.
However, Raphinha has been ruled out for three weeks with a thigh injury, while goalkeeper Joan Garcia requires knee surgery and will be sidelined for four to six weeks. Fermin Lopez, Gavi, and Marc-André ter Stegen remain out, leaving Xavi with several enforced absences.
Even so, changes are anticipated from the side that faced Real Oviedo. Wojciech Szczesny, Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Casado, and Robert Lewandowski — who came off the bench to score against Oviedo — are all in contention to start.
Real Sociedad will be without Yangel Herrera and Orri Oskarsson due to injury, while Aritz Elustondo faces a late fitness test on a muscular issue.
Head coach Francisco could stick with the same starting XI that beat Mallorca, meaning Takefusa Kubo should continue in a wide role. Carlos Soler impressed in midfield last time out and is set to retain his spot, while Sergio Gomez — man of the match against Mallorca — will once again start at left-back.
