Prediction and Preview

Tottenham 2 - 0 Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion possible starting lineup:

Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck

Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup:

Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Palhinha, Bergvall; Kudus, Richarlison, Simons

Brighton’s trip to Bournemouth last weekend turned sour after early injuries to Jack Hinshelwood (ankle) and Maxime De Cuyper (knee) forced both players off in the first half. Hinshelwood now joins Adam Webster and Solly March (both knee) in the treatment room, while De Cuyper remains a doubt for Saturday’s clash. The Seagulls will take some comfort in the return of Mats Wieffer (knee) and Diego Gomez (illness), who are both fit and available for selection.

Should De Cuyper fail to recover in time, Ferdi Kadioglu is expected to slot in at left-back alongside Lewis Dunk, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Joel Veltman. In midfield, either Carlos Baleba or Yasin Ayari is likely to step in for Hinshelwood.

Brighton will look to the electric Yankuba Minteh, who currently boasts the highest take-on success rate (65% – 13/20) among Premier League players with 10 or more attempts this season. He is set to feature again in attack, alongside Kaoru Mitoma, Georginio Rutter, and Danny Welbeck.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will still be without Dominic Solanke despite the striker making progress in his return from an ankle injury. He remains sidelined alongside Yves Bissouma (knock), Kota Takai (foot), James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Radu Dragusin (all knee).

Ange Postecoglou may opt for a couple of changes to his starting XI, with Destiny Udogie fit and pushing to start at left-back over Djed Spence. Joao Palhinha could also return to the midfield in place of Rodrigo Bentancur.

Up front, Richarlison is expected to lead the line, with Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani providing competition. He could be flanked by Xavi Simons and summer signing Mohammed Kudus, though Brennan Johnson – who found the net against Brighton last season – is also pushing for a recall on either wing.
