Japan vs Brazil: Team News

Japan are expected to name a largely unchanged lineup from the side that faced Paraguay, with Tsuyoshi Watanabe, Junnosuke Suzuki, and Ayumu Seko likely to form a three-man defensive unit.

In midfield, Ao Tanaka of Leeds United could once again partner Kaishu Sano of Mainz 05 in a double pivot, providing both structure and dynamism in the centre of the park.

Further forward, Takumi Minamino – formerly of Liverpool and now starring for AS Monaco – may occupy one of the two attacking midfield roles behind Koki Ogawa, who is expected to lead the line for the Samurai Blue.

As for Brazil, Matheus Cunha led the attack against South Korea, though head coach Dorival Júnior may opt to deploy him in a slightly deeper role behind Richarlison, who could return as the focal point of the Selecão attack.

In midfield, Bruno Guimarães is a near-certain starter and may be joined by the experienced Casemiro to form a commanding partnership at the heart of the team.

At the back, Gabriel Magalhães of Arsenal is set to marshal the defence alongside Éder Militão, ensuring stability and strength in the Brazilian rearguard.
