Team News

Nottingham Forest continue to battle with several key absentees, as last season’s top scorer Chris Wood (knee) and new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko (groin) both remain sidelined. They are joined in the treatment room by Ola Aina (hamstring), Dilane Bakwa (unspecified), and Angus Gunn (knee).

Summer arrival James McAtee was a surprise omission from Sean Dyche’s squad in the defeat to Bournemouth, though the decision was purely tactical. It remains to be seen whether the former Manchester City midfielder will return to the fold for the visit of Manchester United.

With Wood unavailable, Igor Jesus is expected to continue leading the line, while captain Ryan Yates — who has started only once in the Premier League this season — may once again be named among the substitutes. Dyche is likely to persist with the midfield pairing of Elliot Anderson and Douglas Luiz, with Anderson continuing to draw links to Manchester United.

As for the visitors, Rúben Amorim hopes to have Harry Maguire back from the minor issue that ruled him out of the win over Brighton. However, Lisandro Martínez (knee) is not yet ready for competitive action despite returning to training.

Should Maguire prove his fitness, Leny Yoro could make way, with the Englishman expected to slot into a back three alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw. Amorim may also stick with Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot as his wing-backs, leaving Patrick Dorgu to provide depth from the bench.

Up front, Matheus Cunha is set to lead the line once more. The Brazilian has been directly involved in seven goals in his last four appearances against teams starting the day in the relegation zone (three goals, four assists) — all achieved during his spell with Wolves between April 2024 and April 2025. He is expected to be flanked by Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško in attack.
