Arsenal’s injury woes continued over the weekend, with two more names added to Mikel Arteta’s growing list of absentees. Piero Hincapié missed out on the matchday squad due to a groin issue, while Noni Madueke was withdrawn at half-time with a knee injury.
Madueke is now reportedly facing up to two months on the sidelines, joining Gabriel Jesus (ACL), Kai Havertz (knee), and Martin Ødegaard (shoulder) on the treatment table. However, there was some positive news as Bukayo Saka and Ben White made their returns to the squad on Sunday — although the latter remained an unused substitute.
Both players are expected to come straight back into contention for Wednesday’s clash, with Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly also likely to feature as part of a heavily rotated lineup. Youngster Max Dowman could even be handed a rare start, though Saka is tipped to take up his usual spot on the right flank as he works his way back to full sharpness.
Port Vale, meanwhile, have been handed a boost with the return of on-loan Wrexham striker Mo Faal from a hamstring issue. However, Andy Moore’s side face selection headaches out wide after suffering three fresh injury setbacks. Liam Gordon was forced off late in the win over Mansfield, Mitch Clark remains at least a week away from returning, and Kyle John will miss the next few matches with a muscle problem.
