Kairat vs Real Madrid: Team News and Preview
Kazakh champions Kairat will be without key attacking duo Elder Santana and Joao Paulo, both sidelined with long-term ACL injuries and left out of the squad for the league phase. Goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov and midfielder Giorgi Zaria are also unavailable, while doubts remain over Alexandr Zarutskiy’s fitness ahead of the clash.
Should Zarutskiy fail to recover in time, 18-year-old Serkhan Kalmurza is expected to keep his place between the sticks. Further forward, rising star Dastan Satpaev — who has scored in two of his last three appearances — is likely to spearhead the attack as Kairat look to upset the 15-time European champions.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are dealing with a defensive injury crisis. Dani Carvajal is out for around a month with a calf problem sustained in the Madrid derby, while Eder Militao also picked up an injury in that match and is not in the travelling squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Antonio Rüdiger, and Ferland Mendy are also sidelined, leaving Alonso short of options at the back.
As a result, Madrid may stick with the same backline that started the 4-1 victory over Levante on September 23 — with Raul Asencio and Fran Garcia as full-backs and Alvaro Carreras filling in at centre-back.
