Forca Kochi Edge Thiruvananthapuram Kombans in Thrilling Super League Kerala Encounters
KOCHI, September 27, 2024:
Hosts Forca Kochi FC began their Super League Kerala campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday.
Despite trailing 0-1 at half-time, the home side mounted a strong comeback in the second half. The visitors, relying on swift counterattacks and set pieces, broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, when Brazilian international Marcos Wilder powered home a header from a corner to put Kombans ahead.
Kochi found their rhythm after the break and were rewarded in the 63rd minute, when Rahul KP struck the equaliser to send the home fans into wild celebrations. Maintaining their momentum, Kochi pressed for a winner and finally found it when Nijo Gilbert set up Dorielton, who coolly slotted home to secure the hosts’ first win of the season.

In the return fixture, Forca Kochi FC once again proved too strong for Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC, claiming a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
Kochi started brightly, taking the lead in just the eighth minute through Dorielton Gomes. The Kombans fought back determinedly, eventually finding an equaliser early in the second half to level the score.
However, Kochi regained control in the closing stages. In the 87th minute, Rodriguez Ayazo restored the lead with a well-taken finish, before Dorielton capped off a superb performance by adding his second goal in stoppage time, sealing a memorable away win for Forca Kochi.
