Senegal possible starting lineup:

Neymar has not featured for Brazil in over two years, and although the injury-hit forward has recently returned to action with Santos, the 33-year-old has been left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man squad.

Goalkeeper Hugo Souza has withdrawn due to injury, adding to a notable list of absentees that includes Raphinha, Gabriel Martinelli, Savinho, Joelinton, Joao Gomes and Lucas Beraldo — all omitted by Ancelotti for this international window.

Ancelotti has discussed his plan to deploy Vinicius Junior in a more central attacking role, shifting the Real Madrid star away from his usual position on the left wing. The 25-year-old started as a striker in last month’s friendly defeat to Japan and is expected to continue in that role on Saturday. Premier League forwards Joao Pedro, Richarlison and Matheus Cunha are also pushing for a starting spot through the middle, while Chelsea’s rising talent Estevao will hope to make an impact after scoring three goals in his first nine caps at just 18 years old.

Senegal, meanwhile, will be without Krepin Diatta due to injury, while Nampalys Mendy, Mamadou Mbow and Cheikh Nisse have all been left out after featuring in last month’s squad.

Como forward Assane Diao returns after missing the previous international break through injury, and Le Havre midfielder Rassoul Ndiaye is back in the senior setup for the first time in 18 months, targeting only his second cap. Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr — on loan from Chelsea — and 17-year-old PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye have both earned their first senior call-ups and could make their international debuts this weekend.

Sadio Mané, who netted a brace in Senegal’s 4–2 victory over Brazil in 2023, is expected to lead the line once again. He could be supported by Nicolas Jackson, Iliman Ndiaye or Ismaila Sarr in an attack filled with pace and dynamism.
