Barcelona welcomed Lamine Yamal back in style at the weekend, with the Ballon d’Or runner-up marking his return from a groin injury by setting up Robert Lewandowski’s decisive strike against Real Sociedad. The 17-year-old is now pushing for a starting berth when the European champions come calling.
Hansi Flick still has a lengthy absentee list to contend with, though. Marc-André ter Stegen (back), Gavi (knee), Joan Garcia (knee), Fermín López (back) and Raphinha (hamstring) are all unavailable, with the latter’s absence potentially opening the door for Marcus Rashford to feature in attack. On a more positive note, Alejandro Balde is expected to return from a hamstring issue, though Gerard Martin should keep his place in the back line, while Wojciech Szczęsny once again deputises in goal.
As for PSG, their Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé remains out until the end of October with a hamstring injury, joining Desire Doue (calf), João Neves (hamstring), Fabián Ruiz (muscle) and captain Marquinhos (thigh) in the treatment room. To compound matters, Vitinha and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both picked up problems in the victory over Auxerre.
While there is growing concern over Kvaratskhelia’s suspected hamstring issue, reports in France suggest Vitinha has a stronger chance of recovering in time for Wednesday’s clash.
