Germany vs Luxembourg: Team News & Predicted Lineups
Since Manuel Neuer’s international retirement — and with Marc-André ter Stegen still sidelined by injury — Oliver Baumann has emerged as Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper. However, the Hoffenheim captain is a doubt for Friday’s clash due to illness and may be forced to sit out.
Noah Atubolu of Freiburg has been called up as cover, though Alexander Nübel could be handed a start if Baumann fails to recover in time.
At the back, uncapped defender Nathaniel Brown has earned his first senior call-up, with Antonio Rüdiger unavailable through injury. The Real Madrid centre-back joins sidelined attackers Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala on the growing absentee list.
Nico Schlotterbeck is back in contention after missing last month’s fixtures, while Pascal Groß and Niclas Füllkrug have both been dropped. In Füllkrug’s absence, Nick Woltemade of Newcastle United is expected to lead the line.
As for Luxembourg, several Germany-based players could feature in Luc Holtz’s starting XI. Danel Sinani (St. Pauli) and Aiman Dardari (Augsburg) are likely to spearhead the attack, supported by Mathias Olesen of Greuther Fürth in midfield.
Enzo Duarte and Mica Pinto are both missing from this month’s squad, but Seid Korac returns after serving a one-match suspension for his red card against Northern Ireland.
